Geotab On-the-Go Enhancing Installations with the Moove Installer App

The MooveInstaller app, developed by Appvin Technologies for the Moove Connected Mobility platform by Autobink, helps installers fit Geotab dongles in vehicles. It allows vehicle selection, dongle assignment, and photo uploads for verification by the Moove Team, streamlining the documentation process.

The Challenge

Problem Statement

Challenge 1- User Interface Design: Creating a user-friendly interface for the MooveInstaller app was quite challenging. As for the technical aspect, the interface for installers had to be friendly and simple, in consideration for those who may not have much experience in computer systems. The goal was to make the app easy to navigate and use, ensuring installers could perform their tasks efficiently.

Challenge 2- Real-Time Verification: Another challenge was enabling real-time verification of installations. The existing manual process was very slow and errant, and it would take a lot of time; therefore, it was a major issue. There was a need for a system that allowed the operations team to review installation photos and verify the work immediately after it was completed.

Challenge 3- Data Synchronization: It was important to ensure that the data was always in sync between the app and the central database. The installers are frequently working in locations with uncertain coverage for Internet connection which could interrupt data uploading and synchronization. The problem was to create a system that could support intermittent connectivity and guarantee data transfer synchronization.

For installers, it was important to have confidence that their information, with the business’s information, was secure against threats and breaches.
